God's Money is the fruit of praying over, wrestling with, and preaching on countless passages on good use and misuse of money in the Hebrew and Christian scriptures. He translates Deuteronomy "Think! The heavens, even the highest heavens, belong to the Lord, your God, as well as the earth and everything on it" as simply "It is all God's Money.
Practice During Lent
God's Money is designed for faith sharing groups and for individual readers. Designed by a parish priest who considers funerals one of the best ways to evangelize families, this little book helps an adult Christian of any age to pray with courage about his or her eventual human death, and how to be more fully alive now. The book can, of course, be used by an individual. But experience suggests that it is much more fun in a group.
The concensus of those in one suburban parish after the four weeks was "We never laughed so much while sharing our faith! Benedict: "Keep daily your death before you.

Padre Pio’s Words of Faith
Tree of Life is arranged for faith sharing groups, with opening songs and simple suggestions for faith sharing: a seed planted, a memory provoked, a question raised, or an action prompted. For without the Lord's help it will not be possible to find a solution to the tragic situation now facing the world, and it is hard to see how terrorism will be tackled at its roots without a conversion of hearts. The practice of fasting looks to the past, present and future: to the past, as a recognition of offenses committed against God and others; to the present, in order that we may learn to open our eyes to others and to the world around us; to the future, in order that we may open our hearts to the realities of God and, by the gift of divine mercy, renew the bond of communion with all people and with the whole of creation, accepting the responsibility which each of us has in history.
Fasting is the soul of prayer and mercy the life of fasting. Nothing can be more effectual in uprooting all sin from the soul than these three kinds of satisfaction.

For since whatever is in the world is the concupiscence of the flesh, the concupiscence of the eyes, and the pride of life, everyone can see that to these three causes of disease are opposed also three remedies. To the first is opposed fasting; to the second, almsdeeds; to the third, prayer.
Moreover, if we consider those whom our sins injure, we shall easily perceive why all kinds of satisfaction are reduced especially to these three. For those we offend by our sins are: God, our neighbour and ourselves.
God we appease by prayer, our neighbour we satisfy by alms, and ourselves we chastise by fasting. Is ; Jer ; Zech , it is meaningless. Before beginning his public mission, Jesus, driven by the Holy Spirit, fasted for forty days as an expression of his trusting abandonment to the Father's saving plan cf.
Mt He gave precise instructions to his disciples that their fasting should never be tainted by ostentation and hypocrisy cf. Following the biblical tradition, the Fathers held fasting in high esteem.
In their view, the practice of fasting made the faithful ready for nourishment of another kind: the food of the Word of God cf. Mt and of fulfillment of the Father's will cf.
Jn Fasting is closely connected to prayer, it strengthens virtue, inspires mercy, implores divine assistance and leads to conversion of heart.
